Electrical and PAT Testing

The importance of regular portable applianceĀ testing (PAT testing) and inspection of electrical systems cannot be understated. Carrying out regular inspections enables us to pre-empt any damage or defects which could lead to damage and potentially endanger lives.

As a guide, public buildings, gyms, offices, and leisure centres need to be inspected every year; industrial and agricultural premises every three years; and commercial, educational and residential premises (not domestic) every five years.

What is portable appliance testing (PAT)?

PAT is required to meet strict safety regulations and employers and landlords should arrange for all portable electrical equipment to be periodically inspected and tested. If you need PAT testing in Basingstoke, Hampshire, Berkshire or Surrey then please call us today.

Landlord safety certificate

It is important to ensure that all electrical appliances and fittings within the property are safe and in good working order. Unlike gas regulations, there is no law that says you must have a landlord electrical certificate. But should any electrical fitting or appliances within your rental property cause harm to a tenant you could be held liable.

What is an electrical inspection condition report (EICR)?

An inspection of the condition of an electrical installation to identify any problems that do meet the national safety standard for electrical installations. Our fully qualified electrician will check the following:

  • earthing
  • polarity
  • Insulation
  • testing of residual current devices (RCD)

We will produce the EICR to highlight areas of compliance and non-compliance and we’ll be on hand to advise on any remedial work.
